Idea Eight

I don't know why I haven't posted about this yet!...
Idea Eight. Shopping! Athens can be pricey when it comes to shopping, which is definitely a downside, but when you have some extra money to spend it is so much fun. You can shop high end at Heery's, or reasonably at Pitaya or Encore. You can even do a little window shopping (many of us are college students and poor after all). Usually I'm not a fan of walking around and trying on things I can't afford, but walking around downtown Athens is a treat in itself. Plus even a college student can afford a coffee splurge and some people watching downtime.

Idea Six
I one of my favorite places in Athens is Five-points. There are so many places to eat, places you wouldn't even expect to serve food.
Idea Six. A walk to Five Points, and a stop at the Earth Fare Grocery store where they serve a great breakfast. There is even a place to site outside. If your up to it afterwards you can walk to the local zoo, located just down the street. (this may be more of an "i have been dating you for a long time" date idea)
(zoo Info)Off Milledge Ave. Look for the Memorial Park & Bear Hollow Wildlife Trail .sign. Turn onto Gran Ellen Dr.. It is one street north of the East Campus Drive traffic light. Memorial Park is about three blocks down Gran Ellen on the left. After entering the park, follow the signs to Bear Hallow. It is open from 9:00 am to sunset everyday. It is free!

Idea Five
I'm not crazy about sports but add Cali 'N' Tito's and i'll definitely go.
Idea Five. A dinner at Cali 'N' Tito's followed by a short walk down the street to a UGA baseball game. Cali 'N' Tito's has, what I consider, the most authentic mexican food in athens. If you feel like having a few drinks it's BYOB, so feel free to bring drinks while you sit outside and hear the game starting up down the street.

Idea Four.
A progressive dinner between friends. Freshman and sophomore year you get close to a lot of people, but cannot live with them all. Since everyone is living in different places it can get difficult to plan time to all hang out.
Idea Four, Progressive dinner. Here is how it works. Each house cooks a different course (House 1. appetizer, 2. soup or salad, 3. main course, etc..) Then you move from house to house and hang out with your friends. You could also bring all the food to one of the houses if it's to much work to move from house to house. Either way everyone helps cook, so it's not all on one person, and everyone can hang out like old times and catch up.

Idea Three.

I know bowling got old in middle school and high school, but I recently went bowling in Athens and it was a lot more fun then I remembered. I know it's an old school date or hangout idea but if your tempted you should do it. There is nothing better than a little friendly competition between friends (You could even maker the loser buy a round of drinks).
Idea three. Bowl n' brew at Kingpins! It is located at 2451 Jefferson Rd. It's opened until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12 am the other nights. If you would like more information you can visit their website.

Roommate challenge.. Idea two
My roommates and I made a list one day of all the restaurants we haven't tried in Athens but really want to go too. You know, the ones you forget about when it's time to pick a place for dinner (thats how we always end up at Ru Sans). So far it has worked great. We stuck it on our fridge and now we have seen more of what Athens has to offer before we graduate and regret not venturing out more.
Idea Two. make a list of restaurants, of all types, and price ranges. Then make a pact with some friends to eat at least once at all of them. If you need help with ideas in places i could help, or you could visit DawgFood a great place for ideas!

Date Idea One
Athens is known for its artists and musicians, it only makes sense that athens is a great place for concerts. There always seems to be concerts lined up at the Georgia Theatre in downtown Athens. Its a perfect location for restaurants, and night life.
Date idea number 1. Dinner at a downtown Athens restaurant such as Amici, or transmetropolitan. Then a nighttime Concert at the Georgia theatre, followed with a few cocktails at any of the surrounding bars.. and theirs plenty to choose from.
